When you connect your Telegram bot to the CRM, messages sent to the bot appear in your inbox and are replied to from the dashboard. All you need to connect it is the bot token; the system automatically handles message delivery.

Before You Begin

  • A Telegram account
  • A bot you created with @BotFather
  • The bot token provided by BotFather

On the Telegram side, you don’t need to register a webhook or address; the system registers the delivery address on your behalf.

Creating and Connecting a Bot

  1. Create a bot — Send a message to @BotFather on Telegram, send /newbot, and follow the instructions.
  2. Copy the token — The token provided by BotFather is in the format 123456789:AA…. The bot’s ID is derived from this token.
  3. Open the connection panel — on the Settings › Channels page, click the "Connect" button in the Telegram row (if another bot is connected, the button will say "Connect another account"). The "Connect Telegram" panel will open on the right.
  4. Paste the token — Paste the token into the "Bot token" field and click the "Connect" button.
  5. Check the result — When you see the message “Telegram channel connected; Telegram will deliver incoming messages to your inbox. No further setup is required,” close the window by clicking “Done.” The bot will appear as a chip in the Telegram chat.

If the token is incorrect or has been revoked by BotFather, the connection will be rejected; get the latest token from BotFather and try again. A token is like a password—do not share it with anyone.

Message delivery

When connecting, the system automatically specifies where to deliver messages to Telegram. If this step fails, the channel will still connect, but no messages will be received; you’ll see this in three places:

  • After linking, the warning "The Telegram channel has been linked, but Telegram has not yet been informed where to deliver the messages" appears, along with the reason provided by Telegram
  • A warning appears in the channel line: "Delivery hasn't been set up yet, so no messages are coming through. Open the account to complete the setup."
  • A red dot on the bot chip and a "Setup Not Complete" badge in the drawer

To resolve this, click on the bot’s icon and check the “Message Delivery” section in the drawer. This section queries the status directly from Telegram:

  • Submitting to Blesyum → Everything is fine; there’s nothing you need to do.
  • Not installed → Click the "Install" button; the address and security key will be saved on your behalf.
  • 3 pending (number may vary) → There are messages on Telegram that haven't been delivered yet.

If Telegram has its own delivery error, it will be displayed in the same section. If it says, “Telegram is currently delivering this bot to another address,” the bot is also connected to another system; Telegram maintains a single delivery address for each bot. You can retrieve the delivery back to the CRM using “Set Delivery” or “Resave”; in this case, the other system will stop receiving messages from that bot. The “Delivery Address” field is required only if the support team requests it.

Conversations

  • The customer initiates the conversation: when someone messages your bot, a conversation opens in your inbox. Share your bot’s username (@…) on your website or through your communication channels.
  • There is no reply window in Telegram. Once the customer has sent a message, you can reply at any time; the channel button displays "Free text can be sent."
  • The person’s Telegram profile appears in the customer panel to the right of the conversation: Username, Channel ID, Telegram Premium, and Language. If no photo has been manually uploaded for the person, the Telegram profile photo is used as the avatar.

Format and Attachments

  • Formatting such as bold, italic, underlined, strikethrough, code, and links is preserved in messages sent to Telegram.
  • Each file you send can be up to 10 MB; you can attach up to 10 attachments to a single message. If the text in a message with an attachment does not exceed 1,024 characters, it becomes the caption for the first attachment; if it exceeds that limit, it is sent as a separate message.
  • Photos, documents, videos, GIFs, audio files, voice messages, video messages, and stickers sent by the customer are added to the conversation.

Editing a Sent Message

Telegram allows you to edit messages sent by the bot. When you select "Edit" from the message menu and change the text, the customer will also see the new text. There is no time limit; the edited text can be up to 4,096 characters long, and up to 1,024 characters in an attached message.

If a customer edits their message in Telegram, the edited version appears in the conversation as a new message.

The "Remove from Inbox" message only removes the message from the panel; it will still be visible in the customer chat.

Frequently Asked Questions

I refreshed the token in BotFather

The old token is no longer valid. Remove the account from the bot’s drawer using “Disconnect,” then reconnect with the new token; previous conversations will be preserved.

Can I connect more than one bot?

Yes. Each bot is listed as a separate card in the Telegram feed.

The bot isn't receiving messages

First, check that the "Channel Active" toggle in the drawer is turned on, and then verify that the "Message Delivery" section shows "Delivering to Blesyum."
